ATHLETES & CONCUSSIONS

You Didn't Work This Hard to Sit on the Sidelines.

Post-concussion symptoms, sports injuries, and performance plateaus all have one thing in common — a nervous system under stress. We fix the system. You get back in the game.

What Slows Athletes Down

We call it the Perfect Storm — the accumulation of stress that pushes an athlete's nervous system past what it can adapt to.

Physical load — impact, collisions, falls, overtraining, and the cumulative wear of a season on a body that isn't recovering fully between sessions.

Competitive stress — performance pressure, the mental load of high-stakes moments, and the nervous system cost of constantly being "on."

Recovery debt — inadequate sleep, poor nutrition, and training schedules that outpace the body's actual capacity to rebuild.

When these stack faster than the nervous system can adapt, performance plateaus, injuries recur, and concussion symptoms linger longer than they should. The INSiGHT scan shows us exactly where that storm has landed. Then we clear it.

The Neuroscience Behind Athletic Performance and Recovery

Two principles drive everything we do with athletes:

Neuroplasticity under load. Training adapts the body because the nervous system is constantly rewiring in response to demand. A nervous system carrying interference — old injuries, unresolved impact trauma, chronic tension — can't adapt as efficiently. Every precise adjustment clears that interference so the brain can do what training is asking it to do.

Reaction time starts in the spine, not the muscle. Roughly 90% of the brain's stimulation comes from spinal movement. Restricted spinal motion — from a hit, a fall, or years of repetitive load — means the brain is getting less input than it needs to fire fast, coordinate cleanly, and recover quickly.

This is why athletes under our care report faster recovery, sharper reaction time, and fewer nagging injuries that keep coming back. Not because we treat the injury. Because we clear what's slowing the system down.

12 years of practice. 20 years of marriage. Two boys. A story that started with a fall off a counter at age 1 — and led to changing the trajectory of thousands of families.

Olive Me Chiropractic opened in 2015 in Arden Hills. After 7 years there, the clinic outgrew its space and made the move to Vadnais Heights — where we're now proud to be starting our 11th year serving Twin Cities families.

HAVE QUESTIONS?

Frequently Asked Questions

We have answers. No pressure, no pitch — just clarity.

How is neurological chiropractic different from regular chiropractic?

Regular chiropractic focuses primarily on spinal alignment and pain relief. Neurological chiropractic focuses on the nervous system — measuring it objectively with the INSiGHT scan and addressing the neurological interference patterns driving symptoms. The results go far beyond pain relief.

Is the INSiGHT scan safe for kids?

Completely. No radiation, no needles, no discomfort. It's the same technology used in pediatric chiropractic offices worldwide. Kids find it fascinating.

How long does it take to see results?

Depends on how long the nervous system has been under stress. Some patients notice changes within the first few visits. We rescan regularly so you can see objective progress — not just feel it.

Do I need to be in pain to benefit from neurological care?

No. Many of our patients come in for optimization — not pain. They want their brain and body functioning at full capacity. The scan often reveals interference patterns they didn't know were there.

Ready to See What Your Nervous System Is Actually Doing?

Book your first visit and let's scan your nervous system — give you an objective picture of what's happening underneath — and build a care plan around what we actually find.

OUR CLIENTS SAY

"As a competitive endurance athlete I visit regularly to avoid pain/injury and more importantly to keep my body functioning at the highest level. After a visit I feel mentally and physically refreshed."

"Dr. Zgia helped keep my wife and I adjusted when we ran our marathon and we haven't stopped coming back since."

I took a terrible fall on a Thursday and requested emergency treatment for the whiplash hurting my neck. With one treatment, my headache and stuck vertebrae were released."
